If you're unsure if you wanna be dedicated to the series I'd start with 1/Kiwami as it's shorter and more straight to the point. And if you're more familiar with turn-based RPGs than fighting games I'd go with Yakuza: Like a Dragon. If you wanna go a chronological route it'd be: Yakuza 0. Yakuza 1/Yakuza Kiwami. Yakuza 2/Yakuza Kiwami 2. Yakuza 3.

Nov 26, 2021 · The popular order is by the numbers: 0-7(1 and 2 being replaced by the remakes). I don't recommend this order for quite a few reasons but i won't get into that here. The unpopular order is by PlayStation release: 1 and 2 on PS2, 3-5, 0, 6 and 7. I'd recommend this order, but if PS2 games are too old for you, choose the popular order instead.

Sep 12, 2023 · You could try playing the original Y1 & Y2 if you want. That way you play them in release order and can experience the story in the way it was intended. (Plus Kiwami 2 came out after Y6) At least start with Kiwami and go K1,K2,3,4,5,0,6. Starting with 3 is going to be fucking horrible story wise.

Sep 15, 2019 · Ryū ga Gotoku Studio basically reworked Zero as the new canonical start to the series. I would definitely recommend against going back to the PS2 games as a method of experiencing the series in a pure release-order form because the combat controls were out-dated at release and they have only gotten worse with time.

Ideally you would want to do release order (1-5, 0, K, 6, K2), but given that not everybody has access to a PS2, chronolgical is the next best way (0-K-K2-3-4-5-6) 212K subscribers in the yakuzagames community.
