Windows 11 won’t work with my WD External Hard Drive
Jan 9, 2023 · My Amazon Basics 3TB external drive works fine on both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Probably not quite as old as the WD unit but, as I recall, less expensive. My backup going forward is a two-drive docking station. It took around 5 minutes to see the hard drive I put in it. Once found it seems to work without delay.

Apr 6, 2017 · Greg, that's the issue. when I open Disk management the WD Passport USB drive doesn't show so I cant assign a drive. when I open device manager the Passport shows in other devices. when I open Settings - Devices - Connected Devices it shows "My Passport Ultra" but says driver is unavailable.

Mar 26, 2016 · Insert the WD Black drive into the docking station. Connect the USB cable to the new PC. Turn on the power to the docking station. Then restart the PC. Then check it again. If Windows has a problem reading HDD while it is in the docking station, doing this sometimes fixes it.
