My ceiling is also a drop ceiling and I have a part of the ceiling the runs the length of the room and is 4 ft wide and lower than the rest do to the AC duct work. I have four atmos speakers with the right two being in the lower part of the ceiling while the left two are in the normal height part of the ceiling.

Also of note, in the horrific video you posted, is that many of the wires are attached to BOTH the ceiling and the floor (once again, tensioned wire providing a "solid" base from which to attach the speakers). This is not the same scenario as speakers suspended only from the ceiling.

I'll be mounting the rears using a ceiling mount Sanus WMS3B so I think I should be good. Appreciate the information Bill and will most likely steer away from ceiling mount in future HT builds.

Dec 11, 2020 · I‘m running 5.2.4 on an X3600H now with ceiling mounted speakers. The ceiling mounted speakers sound even better than the upfiring ones. Not so much due to upfiring vs. direct, but more so due to AVR sounds better than soundbar. I’d expect the upfiring Emotivas to do better than the ones on my soundbars.
