This training manual teaches death scene investigators how to conduct a comprehensive infant death scene investigation. Investigators learn how to conduct witness interviews and doll reenactment, and to develop a narrative report for the forensic pathologist.
We surveyed a U.S.-representative sample of MECs and described investigation practices and protocols used in certifying sudden unexpected infant deaths (SUID). We also identified MEC training and resource needs.
