Aug 2, 2024 · Only one of these mics fits the OPs topic so I'll start there and kinda gloss over the others. Close mic is most often an RE20 angled down 45 degrees, halfway down the speaker and mid-way between the dust cap and the outer edge of the speaker an inch or two off the grillcloth, although we may move it off by 6" or more.

Jan 30, 2013. #4. No experience, but I've been told that some hemp cones can take ridiculously long to break in, and can sound rather rough and harsh until they do. Unfortunate, as it seems like one buys a hemp cone in order to get something less rough and harsh. But, I believe that varies drastically by manufacturer.

Nov 25, 2009 · However the other day was my first time micing a v-30 speaker in a 2x12 cabinet. The amp used was a '78 marshall JMP mkII 50watt and the guitar was a restored 1971 SG. Mic's used where a seinnheiser 609 one speaker and a 421 on another. Mixing these two mics has proved to be my favorite quailty studio guitar tone.

Mar 2, 2013. #3. If you're talking about the dust cap, you can try masking tape. Stick it on, pull it off, sometimes it pulls dents out. That said, dents in the dome, unless they rattle, won't change the tone. If they rattle, put some tape on it to stop the rattle. T.

It's used on D-, K-, and E-series JBL speakers. This may bother some D-series owners who don't want a cloth surround on their vintage speaker.
