Sky. This site is about an instrumental group from the 80's called Sky, not about any other group of the same name, of which there have been several. Most people in the Western hemisphere (and elsewhere as well!) have heard something by Sky, even if they're not aware of it.

Francis left Sky in the summer of 1980 to pursue other interests following the success of his score for the film 'The Long Good Friday'. He released a solo album, 'Dweller on the Threshold', which regrettably pretty much sank without a trace.

The cover of this DVD states that this performance was filmed in 1980. The best information I have is that Sky never appeared on stage in Germany in 1980 until their first European tour in the autumn of that year, after they had a significant hit with Toccata in June.

This free setting of a well-known plainchant melody was released as a single in the summer of 1980. Intriguingly, the Dies Irae theme also makes an appearance in Berlioz's March To The Scaffold (from Symphonie Fantastique) which was the b-side of the same single.

Sky Sheet Music. To the best of my knowledge (if you know different, please give details in the Forum), nobody has TABbed any Sky compositions/arrangements. However, the band did publish sheet music using standard notation of the first three albums, plus Dies Irae. Here they are.

Forthcoming. Availability: Sky 4 was released on CD at the time of release in Australia, and later in 1993 on the Music Club budget label in the UK, and with a different cover in Europe. It is hardly surprising that, 10 years later, it is now out of print and not available in shops.
