The currently recognized colors of the SCNA are White, Blue, Wheaton, Black-Breasted Red, Black, and Black-Tail Buff. These should be recognized by the ABA and APA after the white serama. A popular variety of the serama is the silkied serama.

Oct 1, 2023 · I wouldn’t keep any chicken indoors as where it lives 24-7 as they get smelly quite fast and they are very messy. My sick hen stayed inside for 1 week in my bathroom and by then the bathroom was rancid smelling from her poop. Even though seramas as bantams it doesn’t mean they don’t need the same amount of space as a normal hen.

Dec 14, 2017 · My friend has three house chickens 1 silkie and 2 matronly serama hens. They sleep caged but, have the run of the house during the day. She just keeps an eye on them and cleans up any mess as soon as it happens. Her home does NOT smell bad.

In any case, according to the article the Japanese Bantam actually began as Serama stock which went from Indonesia to Japan a couple of centuries ago, where the breed was further refined. Some Japanese bantams have been brought back over the years to breed with local Serama as well.

Dec 29, 2009 · I have Silkies and Seramas at the same time. I have Silkie x Serama babies, too. Mine were born with yellow skin, walnut comb, 5 toes and feathered legs. As they're feathering in, they have hard feathers (Silkie feathering is recessive) and small feathered crests. Serama's fly really, really well and can get out of small spaces.
