The S&W 469...a quick rundown of a cool little 1980s pistol
Jan 2, 2017 · It looks like the finger extension (which I NEED) is designed to come off. And I believe it's a THIRD gen. Model 9 morphed into the 59 which took us to the 459/469. 4th gen included the 6904 and the stainless 6906 which we see in close up in Demolition Man in the hands of Wesley Snipes character. I LOVE my 469. I have had it for over 30 years.

Nov 8, 2005 · The 669 is a chopped or compact version of the 459 which is descended from the original Model 59. The Model 59 was a high cap version of the Model 39. When the 469 (blue) and 669 (stainless) came out, it caused quite a stir in the gun world because these were the first "chopped" or compact high capacity wondernines.

Dec 2, 2008 · I have an old S&W 459 that has its rear sight loose. The actual sight slides side to side in the dove tail on the reciever. As far as I can tell these are the original sights. It seemed to loosen up after years of carry and shooting. Any ideas on a repair.

Sep 17, 2008 · The 459 is referred to as a S&W Second Generation Auto Pistol. Sigs and Glocks of the era (early to middle 80's) were simply better guns, and I say this objectively, but that doesn't mean that the 459 was a bad gun. In the competitive marketplace of the time, there were simply better products out there.

Jul 19, 2007 · There were two models of this revolver which I am familiar with. The original was the Model 640, a five-shot, hammerless, .38 Spl which was a very good-looking firearm IMHO. It changed to the Model 640-1 which was rated for .357 Magnum. I have one of these and I highly recommend it, but with .38 Spl ammo.
