Jun 13, 2012 · So there are no (hardware-) USB-pins available at the GPIO connector. If you want to do software-USB (emulation) using GPIO pins, it's your choice, which pins to use. But I'm in doubt, if - under Linux - it's possible to meet the timing specifications required for USB transfers.

Jul 18, 2012 · If you need USB 3.1 then you're going to have to get a SoC with USB 3 built into it or do it like the Pi 4 with a PCIe attached USB 3 controller. You're not going to find anything cheap & simple like the Maxim chip or the Hobbytronics module that'll be capable of this.

Nov 30, 2022 · tl;dr - Don't rely on GPIO pins to deliver power to other devices. Use GP IO for the two functions encoded in the acronym: data input and data output. For power, tie the device to the power source, or use a relay.
