Aug 19, 2013 · That was the first version of the G21SF; in addition to the Picatinny rail, it had a ambi mag release. Didn't appeal to folks, so they went with the more familiar type. For a time, Glock made both versions.

Feb 2, 2022 · Today I got an Apex-3D Anker 10ah kit with the rail mount option. Unfortunately the (QD) rail mount mechanism is too lose to really lock in place. I took the lever apart and managed to tighten the mechanism a half-turn (which is the minimum amount of adjustment, the way it's designed), but then it was too tight to clamp onto the rail.

Mar 16, 2019 · This was an odd ball G21 with a 1913 picatinny rail for a light/laser not the Glock slot we are all used to. This particular is a SF frame that had an ambi mag release. I have 1,000's of rounds through mine with nary a hiccup. Never gave it any thought. Mine is like this (Stolen from web to show ambi)

Jun 19, 2018 · Sold my Glock 21 SF with the picatinny rail, as it was a very uninspiring. Even the local Glock rep in Eastern NC didn't think much of that model. I used the money to buy a SAI M1911A1 Target Loaded instead. I may get another Glock 21 someday; probably a Gen 4. Something I can bury in a waterproof tube for a rainy day.

Oct 25, 2023 · Technically there's other differences, like the radius on the edges is smooth on the Glock rail, while a true Picatinny spec has specific angles and flat surfaces. But for the purposes like the OP has to use the 1913 rail key for the light on his Glock, then yes the only required change is to widen the recoil lug slot.
