May 4, 2014 · Greeting velvet, I plumbed for years, a couple years go we bought two places in which the old pre-pex , that gray junk, was installed. Doing repairs I used Pex and decided on the Shark bite type of fittings. Even with the gas line. it was scary, now I kinda like it. With the Shark bite fittings you don't need the crimping tool. Does that help?

My main experience has been with Wirsbo and I own their tool (thankfully purchased at a fraction of new cost from a retiring plumber). I am seriously considering PEX for new propane lines in connection with the W.H. project.

Jul 23, 2008 · I just got 100' of 1" pex al pex today that i bought of ebay. The seller told me that shark bite fittings would work with it. Come to find out they dont, the pex al pex is to big. I bought a bunch of 1" shark-bite fittings at a pretty good discount, but it seems I wont be able to use them.

Jan 18, 2014 · Plumbing and heating wholesalers generally stock up to 1" pex, both straight and coils. You do want to use barrier pex. If in fact you need to move 100,000 (10 gpm) and 180,000 BTU 18 gpm 1" would be the best choice.

Sep 13, 2010 · The underground water service poly pipe is a bit different with a thicker wall than plumbing pex. I suppose if you are careful and don't have rocks or sharp stones in contact. What about schedule 40 PVC? They use that for service lines, and schedule 80 on submersible well pumps around here. hr

May 7, 2014 · I had to remove some 3/4" crimps this weekend and it was a total PITA. The copper rings come off easy. Getting the pex off of the fitting so that you can reuse the fitting is a huge PITA. These fittings had been crimped for a few months. The pex really grabs the ridges and wants to stay put.

Mar 15, 2009 · I used the 1 inch fittings to connect 1 inch black pipe (NTP) to the 1 1/4" Rehau pex pipe I have. Worked great!! It was a real nightmare trying to find the proper fittings for Rehau Pex. Very expensive fittings and tools to do the job (Everloc)?. In the end it cost me less than $35.00 to do the eight connections I needed to make.

Mar 3, 2010 · if you use 1.25" pex-al-pex, my understanding is that is a true 1.25" ID. 1.25" pex has a roughly 1" ID, whereas 1" pex would be smaller along the lines of 3/4". So by saying you really only get 1" flow rate through 1.25" pex, you are technically correct, though in common terminology, you're getting greater flow than 1" pex.
