SOLVED: ps4 wont use update on usb - PlayStation 4 - iFixit
Did it a couple more times. Tried with USB (FAT32 , 4 GB storage abd everything named and downloaded corectly) the ps4 got it, downloaded the update, applied it and after restart - nothing. Back at the beggining, checked the HDD and it just doesnt want to update. Says update complete and when it restarts it doesnt want to boot.

Feb 2, 2018 · Looks like your PS4 is looking for the initialisation software. There are two options for downloading firmware from the PlayStation support website. One is a firmware update and the other is the full firmware package, both are called PS4UPDATE.PUP. You need the full firmware file which is a much larger file than the update, around 2GB I think.

May 8, 2016 · I have cracked this issue. The problem is hardware related, more exactly ram related. When you want to update the software, first the console copies it into ram an then it writes it. If a ram module is fulty it will mess up the file at binary level, so in conclusion the md5 will be different so the ps4 reports the file as corrupted.
