Nov 1, 2018 · Jan 1, 2019. #4. Usually, too much retarder results in numerous sags/runs as the material is very thin and doesn't set quickly enough. Eventual cure time doesn't change, but immediate dry time while shooting lengthens just a bit. But, we're talking seconds/minutes, not days/weeks/months. Lacquer is somewhat sensitive to environment when shooting.

You don't want to put it in a case for 3 weeks in my opinion, unless you are convection drying the lacquer (it's an evaporating process for pre-cat lacquer). You can move it pretty quickly, though, as others have mentioned gently carrying the guitar in the car.

Apr 15, 2013 · Just finished buffing it out. This is the Valspar Clear Lacquer Spray. Leveled and wet sanded to 1200. Buffed with a random orbital polisher from Harbor Freight ($15) with Meguiers Ultimate Compound. All my supplies came from Lowes, Home Depot or Wal-Mart. Zero problems with the nozzle or curing time.

My research thus far indicates that Fender often sprays nitro over urethane - though not sure if the sources are accurate. So, I guess I'm looking for some general guidance and opinions on best / easiest methods or techniques.

Dec 23, 2017 · i am about to finish my les paul project. After 3 coats of cellulose sealer, sanded at grit 600 between each coat. I applied the first layer of nitrocellulose yellow translucent for my sunburst but there are two spits and in some points, there is not enough laquer (near the neck particularly) so there is a tone difference.
