Jan 24, 2018 · Generally, the "F" FSB is 0.040" higher than an unmarked FSB. Think, but don't outsmart yourself. The A2 FSB is 0.040" higher than the A1 FSB. The M4 carbine, because of the removable carry handle needed a slightly taller front sight, so the "F" front sight is another 0.040" taller than the M16A2 front sight.

Jul 11, 2023 · The A2 doesn't use an F marked FSB. If they are putting F marked FSBs on their A2 uppers then they should note that in the product description. If I had known I would have just bought the stripped A2 upper and built it out myself.

Mar 9, 2022 · F refers to flattop, an A4-style upper receiver with rails. It's a little taller than a regular FSB so that standard front sight posts can be used without having them so high there's limited thread engagement.

Constantly studying spots welds, mag well dimple shapes, center support rivet heads and selector markings for the last 12 years...

Nov 12, 2022 · From what I understand, F-marked FSB’s are only correct height for a flat-top upper with a detachable carry handle. Fixed carry handle uppers, no matter the barrel length should be the standard height A2 FSB (not F marked).
