Antenna for Icom 7300 : r/HamRadio - Reddit
May 3, 2020 · I've used the ICOM AH4 tuner for about 10 years, with a long wire and good ground. I had an IC-706 Mk II rig and just recently switched to an IC-7300. I use a long wire that's 107', terminating into trees at about 40' above the ground.

Sep 2, 2021 · Enjoy the hobby to its fullest and learn how antennas actually work. Pick up a copy of the ARRL Antenna Handbook, too. I usually don't recommend ARRL things, but their books and publications are top rate, no matter what their political orientation is, or how much they've sold out to manufacturers.

Jan 1, 2021 · Something to consider is picking up an antenna analyzer of some sort, which you can use right at the antenna during installation which makes things a lot easier. The Nano VNA's are pretty inexpensive, although not as user-friendly as some others.

Jul 20, 2016 · In fact, I will highly recommend an offset center fed 80m "Windom" type for your new Icom 7300 since its internal tuner has a limited tuning range and the 80m offset center fed antennas have a reasonable match on most every HF band.

Jul 23, 2022 · On a stock 7300, the antenna is disconnected from the RX side while it's transmitting. With this, if you plug in an RX antenna, it's connected all the time. If you just have one radio, you probably haven't had to think about the effect of a TX antenna in the near-field on your receiver before.

Oct 11, 2021 · Icom makes 1 tuner and 3 antennas listed for the 7300. The AH-4 is designed for 80-6, depending on what you connect it to. Its intended to work with wire antennas, but isn't terribly wide banded. The AH-2b is a mobile whip to be used with the AH-4, and the AH-740 has a mechanical tuning base.

Sep 11, 2022 · Hook it up to that VHF/UHF antenna, and see if you can hear any short wave stations and/or WWV. Your installation looks great, but there are numerous connections there and so troubleshooting is challenging.
