Apr 20, 2011 · It had the Hershey bar wings, and I loved landing it. When I moved and started flying an arrow with the tapered wing, I swear it was impossible to grease it. It is probably more about getting comfortable with one vs. another than anything else. In my Hershey bar arrow, I tended to come in a little steeper with pulled power once made.

Aug 2, 2012 · By the way, the model nomenclature gets a little confusing. In the last two years of the "Hershey-bar" wing (1974-75), the 180-hp model was called "Cherokee Archer". The tapered wing came out for the 1976 model, which was called "Cherokee Archer II"; and the "Cherokee" part of the name was dropped after 1977.

Jun 22, 2016 · Later, another 10HP was added for a total of 160. Assuming this is correct, there are no Hershey-bar winged Warriors out there. Again from Av Consumer, the Archer nameplate replaced the Cherokee 180/Challenger nameplate in 1973, with the airplane wearing Hershey bar wings until 1976. So there are both style wings out there with Archer branding.

Cherokee 140/180 and Cherokee 180 high altitude performance?
Nov 8, 2014 · No problem climbing to get tailwind, but quite a speed penalty with Hershey bar wing at altitude. 180 Comanches and Mooney 180 did better maintaining their speed at altitude, but even they started to hang from the props at 11T. With my 180hp C172(with CSP), I’ll go up to 11T for large tailwind, but otherwise 6-9T.

Mar 19, 2017 · All Cherokee 140s, right up to the end of production in 1977, have the original short fuselage and Hershey-bar wings. All Warriors have tapered wings, the long cabin, longer stabilator, permanent (not snap-in) rear seats, a real baggage area and exterior baggage door, and a smaller nose wheel and tire.

Mar 15, 2016 · A Hershey bar Arrow is a -II or -I. My Arrow II has the auto extender, and thence doesn't do what yours does, which is in agreement with both the Arrow II POH and the turbo IV description. Never heard of a -II having a circuit for the flaps. Yours is the first I hear of it.

Mar 23, 2024 · The Hershey bar 180 aren’t part of the eddy current AD if that matters to you. Their glide will be a surprise to people used to a 172 or similar. Expect oh 7-800 fpm sink rate power off best glide. And that’s when way under gross. The single door is a real pain.
Piper Arrow II vs Piper Arrow III - Pilots of America
May 9, 2019 · The wings are completely different. Arrow II has the Hershey bar wing and the Arrow III has thr semi taper wing which imho is vastly superior. Some of older Arrow II's have the elevator trim on the ceiling versus between the pilots seats. The Arrow III also has significantly more backseat legroom.
