I would not recommend you to do a band gig using only a pair of DBR10 without a subwoofer but WITH a subwoofer they should be fine and a lot better than a pair of DBR12. You need something to take the sub 150 Hz bass and kick and if you can't afford the Yamaha staret with something cheaper.

The manual says that the DBR series mains match up perfectly with Yamaha DXS series subs so I was thinking about getting 2 DXS15 subs. However, I've noticed that Yamaha have brought out a DXS15 mkii version.

Today I was talking to our drummer about getting a pair of subs in the future and he asked me whether we'd have to get powered or passive subs. I said I didn't know, but that I'd ask on here.

Jun 13, 2024 · I just got a DBR12 to replace a blown Mackie Thump. Its a MUCH better monitor than the Mackie and I do use it with my Helix but just for my singer so he can hear me in his monitor feed. I do not like the sound of even high end monitors (QSC and CLR for instance) with modeling. I vastly prefer a power amp and real guitar speaker for stage sound.

2,659. Jul 12, 2020. #5. Amongst the Alto, QSC, JBL, and Yamaha FRFR, I preferred the Yamaha DXR10 for their sound, rear panel control and connection features, and 7 year warranty. I've used them as wedge monitors, backline, and mains. I have not used them for bass. I did not feel the need to go for the larger and heavier 12" version.

Jul 30, 2021 · Hi - after a lot of reading on the web, I figured out that the best option (hi-performance, affordable) for outdoor gigs with my Kurzweil SP-6 keyboard is to buy a Yamaha DBR10 (or perhaps DBR12, although I suspect the DBR10 is likely sufficient). Most important to me is clarity and a reasonably full range.

Jul 26, 2017 · I've had the Yamaha DBR12's for about a year. Bought them as a first step into a Full PA setup. Using them for solo gigs and presently using them for front of house with my band. Will become monitors when I upgrade FOH mains. Using in conjunction with a Behringer XR12 mixer. Played a pub gig last weekend. We have two subs and the DBR12's on top.
Has anyone upgraded from Alto speakers? Is it worth the extra cost?
Jun 2, 2018 · I do think Alto speakers are getting better and can be a good value. I agree with Sants that I'm suspect of some of the manufacturers specs. Hard to imagine a manufacturer can make a profit selling speakers at $180 ( 60% of MAP ) wholesale to music stores which sell them at $299 MAP. So they need to cut costs somehow.
