Sep 17, 2009 · Also, lobster mushrooms have actual gills where chanterelles have 'false gills'. Lobster Mushrooms dont have gills really. The mushrooms that the Hypomyces fungus takes ove often do ( i.e. Russula Brevipes, Lactarius) but by the time its a Lobster i would hesitate to say there are any gills for fear of misidentification.
