Why is it so hard for CAD software to merge faces?
Feb 14, 2022 · As all that a CAD engine is doing is dealing with numbers some surfaces are duficult to describe in term of mathematical functions. STL is a Mesh format with planar triangular facets, so it is relatively easy to merge things. Different things are with format that describe solids with 'curves' like BSPlines or NURBS. Regards.

Aug 19, 2017 · In fact, the authors have stated this is not an alternative for AutoCAD applications, and they have never had the interest to implement DXF export format. As collaboration, I think it would work more as a workflow from FreeCAD to SH3D rather than the opposite. SH3D is always in need of furniture/elements libraries.
