Anyone swapped an m54b30 intake cam into an m54b25? : r/e46
Sep 22, 2021 · Going to be doing my vanos seals soon, and was wondering if anyone has swapped this cam in. From what I’ve found, stock cam specs are: M54b25 (int: 228º, exh: 244º), M54b30 (int: 240º, exh: 244º), M54b30ZHP (int: 248º, exh: 248º). For tuning, I have a friend who street tunes e36/e39s with romraider.

Aug 1, 2023 · There are no easy n/a power gains on the m54b30 engine. Your aftermarket airfilter has already probably cost you performance although it will sound more powerful. M50 intake is an over rated compromise on this engine. If you really want to make power n/a it will cost serious money. Or get a supercharger kit for a lot less.

Jan 10, 2023 · M54b30 has high oil use, due to updated oul scraper ring design from the M52. You can change the oil as frequently as you want, just do the filter every 10 000. A dirty filter actually filters better than a clean filter (to a point). You can go wven thicker than that if you want.

Given proper maintenance, oil changes, and attention to the cooling system (read: don't ever overheat), an M54 will last many hundred thousand miles.

May 3, 2024 · If you have lifter tick on cold start, then use any 10W-40, I use Eurolub 10W-40. 5W-30 is great and it's the recommended oil specification by BMW, and it also helps fuel economy. 10W-40 helps with cold start and also sustained high RPM lubrication.
