Mar 18, 2018 · The Olds 425 produces tons of low RPM torque. Have installed many of them (as well as 455) in flat-bottom inboard boats with either jet-drive or v-drive. They are awesome boat engines, as well as hot rod engines.

Jun 17, 2004 · 425, 455 olds are worth it, early 400 BB is worth it as well. "Delmont 88" perhaps ? There was a Delmont, a Delstar and a Dynamic 88 that I can recall........ The 425 would be a great swap for a mid-60's F85 (base model of the Cutlass) or old pickup, fat fender rod, etc.

Aug 11, 2009 · It's a 67 Toronado engine so it has all the good stuff including 10.5:1 pistons and decent flowing big valve heads. They were supposed to have 385 HP and around 480 ft/lbs torque from the factory. Good luck with yours! if it is indeed a real toro motor, be aware that You will need a specific camshaft for it- the lifter banks are at a funky angle.

Mar 31, 2011 · 425s all have forged cranks. Stock HP ranged between 345 and 375 HP. Most had 10.25:1 compressions. Need to be careful of lifter bank angle. Many had a 45 deg angle - later Olds motors had a 39 deg angle. If you are changing the cam, be sure you get the one that matches the lifter bank angle.

Nov 13, 2008 · Toronado motor rated at least 10 HP higher than the 425s used in other Olds models. Forged crank and high nickel content blocks. Tough moter, they can handle abuse. if its truly a Toro motor, it has the later 39 degree lifter angle which means any 455 cam will work and the "B" heads are fantastic!!
