With a strapless gown, you'll have inner straps to hang the dress from. Dresses with straps are hung from the inner strap as well. The sleeves will stretch out if you hang it up from the strap. Gowns are much heavier than they seem (and the straps carry all the weight). Always hang them from the inner straps!

If you don’t have the loops inside your dress anymore, you can fold the dress in half and drape it over a hanger that way, or you can get hangers with clips on the top so you can clip the dress to a hanger to hang it.

If your dress does not have these straps, or is strapless, it can be a hassle to manually sew them in. Instead, you can hang up a strapless dress using a clamp hanger with padded clamps.

Put it on a strong plant hanger, so that it’s not touching the floors or any walls. If you have a long train, stretch it out and drape it over a high-backed chair. Doing this will prevent the train from getting too wrinkled. Remember, on a white dress, even a tiny speck of dust or dirt will show up!
