Use a damp microfiber mop or microfiber cloth to remove loose dirt and dust from the tile floor and grout. Make a paste. In a bowl or bucket, mix one cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide. Or, one cup of baking soda, one tablespoon of oxygen-based bleach powder, and 1/2 cup of water.

For most types of tile, including porcelain and ceramic, you only need two ingredients—warm water and dish soap. In a spray bottle, combine warm water with a few drops of dish soap. Spray the water and dish soap solution on the tile surface. Wipe the area with a damp microfiber towel or cloth.

Scrub a paste of baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and dish soap into the grout with a grout brush. Let the paste sit for 10–15 minutes before wiping it with a damp cloth. Try applying a baking soda paste to the grout and spraying it with distilled white vinegar. Wait until the mixture stops bubbling to rinse it off the tiles.

There are a number of cleaning solutions that can be used on tile floors, from diluted dish soap to commercial tile and grout cleaners. Perry recommends rubbing alcohol for cleaning dirty grout and tiles. “It kills mold and mildew spores, helping to keep the tile and grout clean,” she says.
