Nov 4, 2004 · My son works at a bike shop and they often get Target, K-Mart and Wal-Mart bikes in for repairs. The bikes are generally so cheap they're hard to fix, poor quality, and aren't worth the trouble. Do yourself a favor and go to a real bike shop. You'll be supporting a small business person and you'll get the right bike for your needs.

I agree that single speed suspensionless x-mart bikes can be decent cheap rides for the verry casual rider. My old k-mart BMX I had as a kid (chrome "team" murray) lasted me nearly 5 years with only some brake pad replacments, and a new chain once.

Jun 2, 2005 · Target bikes are made with Steel, except they are tomato can steel, not 4130 Chromoly or anything better. Those garbage can steel frame bikes have components that are about the same quality as a 99 cent umbrella, once they break you're bike won't be rideable anymore. Plus they look like circus clown garbage. Go for a nicer steed.

3. Target bikes are throw-aways after one year. Stuff gets broken, tires wear out, things need to be fixed. Just to replace both tires will typically cost $50 - $60 with el cheapo tires, add in a tune up and your at $100. Go to Target and start the waste money cycle again.

Jun 15, 2005 · That suggests the bikes have frames and forks that cost only $5 or so to build...even with the ten cent an hour slave labor. The shipping on these bikes costs more than the bikes. The European Union has barred the entry of low-cost communist made bikes. Their "experts" say that the communists are selling the bikes below cost.

I have several thousand miles on it and other than one flat,two tires, and cable adjustments, no problems with it. Dick's is above the xMART bikes is that they usually have someone who is knowledgable about bicycles. What I am saying is cheap bikes do have a market with the poor and with kids. I know on bikeforums.net, cheap bikes get frowned upon.

Wal-Mart's blue 26" full suspension bike must compete with Target's blue 26" full suspension bike on price, quality, and features. The result is that both companies buy huge quantities of each (they place orders for millions of bikes in multi-year supplier contracts).
