Does anyone use magnets to mount their starlink on the roof?
Jun 13, 2022 · SpaceBytes. •. Yes, I added four rubberized magnets to the original Starlink 'lawn mount', and plan to place it on my car roof at Vandenberg launches (only while not in motion). I put down a slim dish-towel and then place the magnet-mount on top. Protects the car's paint, and quite stable/wind-proof.

If you want my advice, get an aftermarket J-mount. Then, in the future, all you need to do is buy the Starlink Pipe Adapter for the current generation, and you can continue using the same J-mount over and over again. They are superior to the Starlink Wall Mount's anyway. Better clearance, more flexibility, and cheaper.

Sep 24, 2024 · Now I always have Starlink when the batteries are on since I converted the Starlink to run off of 12V. If I do need to move the dish, I will have to climb on the roof to do it but so far, where it is located, it would have worked everywhere we have camped.

Dec 31, 2020 · All of the bolts except the first one are firmly torqued into our roof, and the first one is flush with the mount at least. Results. Everything came out OK really. There is an alarming dip in the sealant tape at the top edge of our mount - most of the tape got pulled away and twisted up around the bolt due to my early buffooning.

You can buy outdoor-rated cable for most applications, and the Starlink antenna comes with an outdoor rated cable from the factory.
