Oct 27, 2015 · Well, Intel calls their capacitors 'Enhanced power-loss protection' where enhanced indicates it is an extra protection. This is technically more correct since without capacitors, you still need at least some sort of protection, or your SSD will be corrupted very easily, as happened frequently with previous generation SSDs (OCZ era).

Mar 8, 2015 · In fact, it is the 20MB/s random 4K read performance that makes SSD feel so snappy and fast compared to a harddrive, not their high 500MB/s sequential speeds. It's not perfect protection, but then nothing is: dual power supplies or a UPS does not provide perfect protection against power-related problems, dual-homed Internet connections do not perfectly protect against Internet connectivity issues, etc.

Nov 24, 2015 · Some SSD's have capacitors on them that will allow them to run for several moments after the power was lost. Its one of the reasons I run enterprise grade (or based in the case of the Intel 730s that i use) SSDs whenever possible. And the data loss only happens if the drive is actively being written to when the power is lost.
