Nov 20, 2021 · I've been perusing pumpkin pie recipes for the last few days and noticed that there is a main ingredient that usually separates one recipe from the other: sweetened condensed/evaporated milk. I want to know if a recipe using this would create a different taste/texture than one without, and what that texture would be like.

Nov 25, 2015 · I'm looking at the classic pumpkin pie recipe, which I love, and I'm seeing basically two versions. One calls for 12 oz. evaporated milk and 3/4 cup sugar. The other calls for 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk and no sugar. I assume the end result is probably the same, since sweetened condensed milk is just milk and sugar anyway.

My favorite pumpkin pie recipe calls for just regular milk (not the condensed or evaporated.) It also uses dark brown sugar and a little white granulated sugar. I suggest you try a few different versions, and find the pie recipe you prefer most.

Nov 15, 2022 · To use fresh pumpkin, preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Wash, and halve pie pumpkin(s). Scoop out seeds. Place pumpkin halves cut side down in baking pan. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until pumpkins are soft to the touch. Remove from oven, and let cool. Scrape out pumpkin meat, and puree in food processor or blender.

Oct 18, 2019 · Get a pie pumpkin, cut it in half, remove seeds, place cut side down in a pan with about 1/2 an inch of water. Bake at 350 for 1 hr. Remove pumpkin from oven and let cool a bit — scoop now-soft pumpkin mash out of the skin.

Nov 23, 2020 · You can use either! I personally use heavy whipping cream in my pumpkin pies. You might have to adjust your sugar ratios (granulated and/or brown) if using condensed milk as to not make your pie overly sweet.

Oct 5, 2022 · Look up vegan pumpkin pie recipes. You pretty much skip the eggs and milk for a mostly pumpkin filling. It won't slice as neatly, but it still works just fine. The pumpkin alone dries out and becomes fairly thick. Keep the spices from a trusted recipe though, that's the real flavor, pumpkin is pretty bland vs the cloves and ginger.
