Every July the town enjoys the Kalama Fair with Fair Princesses, Queen Coronation, and 4H activities. Don't forget to check out the Kalama Parade that weekend too! In August, downtown Kalama is filled with antique cars for the Untouchables Car Show on the 3rd Sunday of the month.

The area now known as Kalama was chosen as a western terminal site. In preparation for the many investors and tourists interested in this new venture, a three-story hotel called the Kazano House was built at the location of the current Community Building.
