    The Motorola SCR-300 introduced in 1940 was a portable radio transceiver used by US Signal Corps in World War II. This backpack-mounted unit was the first two-way radio nicknamed a "walkie-talkie". Motorola was to produce nearly 50,000 of the SCR-300 units during the course of the war.
    Walkie-talkies are used for various reasons, in the military, for amateur radio, and for personal use. The first walkie-talkie was so large it had to be carried in a backpack, and was called Motorola SCR-300. Motorola also made other Walkie-talkies during World War Two. [3]
