Significant, deep, or old spills might require a professional or steam cleaner.

Usually, upholstery cleaners or water-based solvent cleaners are good options. Alternatively, to make a couch cushion cleaner, combine one cup of warm water with one cup of vinegar, and one tablespoon of dish soap.

Use a vacuum with an upholstery brush to remove loose dust and soil from the fabric. Mix your cleaning solution. Mix 1/4 cup of dishwashing liquid in one gallon of warm water in a large plastic bucket. Pretreat stains. Pretreat any visible stains, and lightly spray the cushions with a garden hose to dampen the fabric. Scrub the cushions.
