If using smokeless powder for your reloads, you'd be much happier with the 45-70. 45-90 cannot burn more smokeless than the 45-70 and has more air space, requiring more wadding. Just no advantage at all to go to 45-90. Plus, some of the commercially available 45-70 ammo shoots great when you have no time to reload.
