Jun 11, 2020 · The actors are giving 110% to every single line and action and the jokes are fairly obvious but written with such a vigor that the pure intensity makes them work. An example of a film that’s unintentionally campy is Sleep Away Camp which has all the same characteristics but is written to be scary rather than funny.

It's been a while since he's made any, but once John Waters movies like Hairspray, Cry Baby, Serial Mom, A Dirty Shame, Cecil B. Demented, Pecker, and even his gross movies are all really campy. Be careful watching anything made before Hairspray, though.
