Blend the syllables together to read the whole word. Is there only one syllable? Is there a short vowel? Is the end sound (immediately after the short vowel) /f/, /l/, /s/, or /z/? Read the word. Decide what is irregular about it. Say the word and spell the word while looking at a model.
