Jan 7, 2011 · The normal sub fascia board is your standard white wood #2 pine or SPF in either 1x4,1x6 or 2x4 & 2x6. Since this board is covered w/ a fascia wrap in either Aluminum or Steel..moisture should not be a problem. Cedar and Redwood used to be the norm. I hope this helped. :thumbup: IHICH2011

I asked why they cant just attach the aluminum to the 2x board that is already there. They said the soffit attaches to that so the need the 1x for the fascia.

Jul 18, 2010 · If the rafter tails are under-sized for the over-hang loads, use 2x6, or 1x8. I see a small problem with the 1x8 being lower than the soffit which could interfere with the intake venting, if located close to the fascia board- where it should be for the best air pressure away from the rain and snow near the house wall.

Oct 18, 2024 · The rake ends the fascia is flush with top of deck. The triangle extends past because I've aligned the bottom edge of deck with fascia on gable side. I could rip it flat and let gable side fascia be flush with top or I could just rip it short so top outer edge aligns with fascia, but I'd prefer deck go over fascia.

My questions are: I think this will hold ok, but is this an acceptable solution? Is a 1" screw the right length for the 1x6, or should I used 3/4"? The screw apparently goes in through the fascia board to a rafter underneath?
