May 20, 2010 · rebuilding a chevy 327 engine beyond basics Thanks for the advice. I'm scrapping the heads as a friend has a set with 2.02 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves all done which has the acc bracket bolt holes. I have an Edelbrock performer RPM aluminum intake manifold.

May 24, 2015 · The "870" block is the most common of the 327 engines. It uses a forged small journal crank. All 327 engines had 2-bolt mains. The 1968 -1969 "4660" 327 blocks used large journal cast modular iron cranks (2.45" mains-2.10" rods, Casting no. 3941174) and were commonly found in trucks.

Jun 7, 2021 · Without anything to vent the engine oil leaks are sure to show up. A PCV is a somewhat controlled vacuum leak as far as your carburetor and intake is concerned. In 1965 chevy had a fitting that substituted for a PCV that had a small hole sucking in crank case vapors just below the rear on a WCFB base.

Jun 15, 2012 · Make: Chevy Model: Impala Year: 1964 Engine: 327 Tran: 350 Auto Owned car for 8+ years, engine was rebuilt by previous owner, just replaced bad water pump. Engine was previously running at about 185 to 190 degrees, replaced water pump, using 50/50 water/antifreeze mix and engine began to overheat running as high as 225 to 247 degrees.

Feb 15, 2003 · proper camshaft I thought about putting the l79 327/350 hp cam in my 327 but I also thought about the comp L79+ cam it comes in at 1800 to 6000 or 6200 where the original 342/342 222/222 447/447 L79 cam comes in at 2200 and goes out at 5800 both cams are just as good thou the comp cam has improved sound and is supposed to have better power.but the original has good power and nice to listen to ...

Dec 7, 2004 · The stroke was the same between your 307, and the 327. You should be able to use the crank and rods out of your 307, in a 350 block, to make your 327. Provided, of course, that its a large journal engine. If the flywheel isn't cracked, you could have it surfaced, slide a new ring gear onto it, and use it too.

Dec 17, 2008 · Besides, if you're gonna completely rebuild the engine it doesn't really matter if the engine came from a Corvette, Chevy II, Camaro or even a pickup. For most people the only things that should really matter are the condition of the block, crank and maybe the connecting rods and heads rather than what vehicle the engine came out of.

Had a stock 327 120,000 miles in 67 Camaro, M22 Muncie, Hurst short shifter, L60-15's cheater slicks and that combo with would still lift a wheel. Just to give an example on my 350 with 9:1 compression and a 270/278 219/227 @ 50 515/530 lift hydraulic roller cam with a 106/112 lsa with out opening the carburetor up to wide open throttle and just turning the engine over I get about 160 to 170 on all 8 cylinders as an example.
