Sounds about the same as the LD in terms of the mix, but the surround envelopment is better, and the bass is much better. Very Cool. That being said I wish THX would just put out a trailer disc for consumers to buy. They get plenty requests for such a disc, and I think they would sell enough to make it profitable. J. Sep 14, 2001.
Denon 5803 pre/pro vs. 5800 - Home Theater Forum
May 7, 2002 · I use the THX EX TEX trailer as my best source of imagaing, dynamics, panning, and cohesion. 1) The 5803 definitely needed breaking in. The soundstage was somewhat smaller, and due to the crossover, there was less "punch" from my sub. I'll have to reserve judgement on overall impact. 2) Panning -every bit as smooth and convincing as the 5800.
