British Gas owner Centrica has signed a 10-year deal worth more than 20 billion pounds ($27.07 billion) with Norway's Equinor to secure gas supplies starting in 2025, both companies said on Thursday.

Centrica has agreed a £20bn deal to source gas from Norway’s state-owned energy company Equinor, which stipulates that natural gas could be substituted for hydrogen in the years to come.

Equinor has signed a significant contract with Centrica to supply the UK with natural gas over the next decade, valued at approximately £20bn ($27.11bn). The deal secures the supply of 55 terawatt-hours (TWh) of natural gas per year,
