U.S. House Republicans Investigate California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Bass Over ‘Violent Riots’

California Democrats are blasting the taxpayer expense of President Trump sending troops to quell anti-ICE riots while the state spends billions yearly on illegal immigrants.

Protests and riots against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have cost the city of Los Angeles nearly $20 million to date, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday. Unrest erupted in Los Angeles and other cities across the country last week after President Donald Trump and ICE ramped up immigration enforcement.

Crowds on Demand, a California-based firm that specializes in delivering on-demand protest crowds, told Fox News Digital that it had “numerous high-budget requests” to join in the anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles and other locations but rejected them.

California GOP Candidate Steve Hilton told Fox News Digital that "Gavin Newsom is a total joke" amid the ongoing anti-ICE riots across Los Angeles.

President Donald Trump on Monday stirred the already contentious riots in Los Angeles when he advocated for the arrest of California Gov. Gavin Newsom. While addressing reporters, Trump was asked if border czar Tom Homan should follow through on Newsom’s dare to arrest the California governor.

–Julian Riveros-Cadavid, a Colombian national, was arrested on administrative immigration violations and has prior arrests on charges of domestic battery, child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft and narcotics violations. He faces deportation.

The Republican California congressional delegation, led by Rep. Young Kim, unveiled the resolution Tuesday condemning violence in the Los Angeles protests.
