Former Arizona Daily Star Editor Bobbie Jo Buel has been researching individual stories of the 1,177 lives lost on the USS Arizona. So far, she’s found stories for close to 350 people.

Roughly 10 hours before that, the ship’s bell atop the UA Student Union will sound at the USS Arizona Mall Memorial to mark the 78th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.
