A different encaste (sub-breed) of bull appears on each day of the festival and the run ends in Pamplona's bullring. Since 1925, 15 people have been killed during the event, most recently in 2009. Every year, between 200 to 300 people are injured during the run, although most injuries are just burises as a result of a fall.
There are a total of nine morning runs or “encierros” during the famous celebrations held in the northern Spanish city of Pamplona. The bulls pounded along the twisting cobblestone streets after being led by six steers. Up to 4,000 runners take part in each bull run, which takes place over 2,775 feet and can last two to four minutes.
