Lengyel was found guilty of killing his girlfriend, Alice "Alyx" Hermann, inside her home in Capitola, CA. Lengyel was arrested this past January after law enforcement found Hermann 's body in a park in Berkeley, CA. Hermann had been missing since December.

Lengyel played keyboards, clarinet and saxophone in Mr. Bungle and appeared on both their 1991 self-titled album and 1995’s Disco Volante before leaving in 1996. He did not participate in any of their reunion performances over the past four years.
