Beginning on Jan. 17, the A train won’t run between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and the last stops of the line, either Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St. or Far Rockaway-Mott Ave. The Rockaway Park Shuttle trains will also stop running to and from Broad Channel.

The A train is a lifeline for people who live, work and go to school in the Rockaways, but beginning in January, a section of it will be shut down for crucial repairs from Jan. 17 to May 19.

There will be no A train service to the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens for five months next year due to infrastructure developments, the MTA announced, disrupting the commute for over 9,000 daily passengers.

There will be a major disruption in subway service to the Far Rockaways in Queens for construction, according to the MTA. No A trains will run between Howard Beach–JFK Airport, Far Rockaway–Mott Avenue or Rockaway Park–Beach 116th Street.
