A skyscraper the same height as The Shard has been approved by the City of London Corporation. One Undershaft will be the tallest in the City of London containing 74 storeys. It will also feature a public garden on the 11th floor and a London Museum education centre.

The City of London financial district has approved plans for a 73-floor skyscraper that will match in height Western Europe's tallest tower a mile to the south, in a sign that city planners are still betting on the office market despite the current downturn.

A new London skyscraper named 1 Undershaft will match the Shard in height after investors triumphed in their planning row. When completed, it will stand at over 1,000ft tall.
