Set to make its formal debut on Friday at the 2025 Detroit auto show, the new performance Mustang is based on the latest Mustang EcoBoost and will be built by Ford on the same line as the regular Mustang. RTR has its own series of tuned Mustangs which it builds at its own facilities.

This isn't an aftermarket upfit, either. Ford is planning to build them at the factory.

Ford is expanding the Mustang family with the EcoBoost-powered Mustang RTR. Developed in collaboration with Formula Drift driver Vaughn Gittin Jr, the coupe features unique styling, parts sourced from the Dark Horse,

Ford calls the RTR the most enthusiast-focused version of the Ecoboost Mustang to date. Pricing and availability details for the new 4-cylinder model have not been announced. This marks just the second time Ford co-developed a Mustang with an outside partner.
