It's not as if the eastern gray squirrel is going extinct any time soon. "Some people say it's a waste of time on squirrels," says Jim Monsma, executive director of City Wildlife.

Spring is a busy time for the people charged with rehabilitating animals that are injured or orphaned. Right now, it's baby squirrel season across much of the country.
