PostNord will stop delivering letters to the Nordic nation at the end of 2025, though package distribution will remain. PostNord, a state-run agency that services Denmark and Sweden, announced the change Thursday.

Sending and receiving letters in Denmark will take a big hit by 2026 as its national postal service will stop letter deliveries when 2025 comes to a close.

Denmark's state-run postal service, PostNord, is to end all letter deliveries at the end of 2025, citing a 90% decline in letter volumes since the start of the century. The decision brings to an end 400 years of the company's letter service. Denmark's 1,500 post boxes will start to disappear from the start of June.

Three months ago, the Danish postal service celebrated its 400th birthday – describing itself as a “backbone of society” and lauding its “great service for the oldest postal service in Scandinavia”.
