Tens of thousands of protesters gathered in Romania’s capital Saturday in the latest anti-government demonstration by far-right groups after a top court canceled a presidential election in the European Union country last year.
It highlighted that Moscow engages in various forms of interference, including influence campaigns, public messaging, and attempts to manipulate democratic processes, all with the aim of eroding public trust in Romanian authorities and criticizing the country’s EU and NATO membership.
Prosecutors said Calin Georgescu, whose win in the first round of a presidential election was annulled, is the subject of “criminal proceedings” linked to incitement.
