A federal judge has effectively ended the ability of compounding pharmacies to make their own copies of Eli Lilly’s weight loss and diabetes drugs Zepbound and Mounjaro. In a sealed decision

U.S. regulations allow compounding pharmacies to manufacture and sell large quantities of brand-name medicines only if they are in short supply. The FDA first announced in October that Lilly's Zepbound and diabetes drug Mounjaro, both known chemically as tirzepatide, were out of shortage before reaffirming that decision in December.
