First responders found a woman dead on the floor of the Avon home with visible injuries and signs of a struggle, the Norfolk DA's office said.

Avon police and fire officials responded at 4:22 p.m. to the Nichols Avenue home after a 911 call “from a household member about an unresponsive female in need of medical assistance,” according to a statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother in their home in Avon, Massachusetts, after police say he admitted to killing her. Thadeus Joseph was ordered held without bail after he was arraigned on a murder charge Wednesday in Stoughton District Court in the death of 53-year-old Astrid Joseph.

First responders rushed to the home on Nichols Avenue around 4:22 p.m. after a relative called 911 and reported a woman was unresponsive and needed medical help, prosecutors said in a statement.
