Ever since Apple announced its new AI features back at WWDC 2024 in June, iPhone users have been eagerly waiting for a much-needed Siri update. Apple promised major improvements to the outdated voice assistant, but they have yet to materialize, along with most of the features of Apple Intelligence.

Apple gave Siri an upgrade as part of the rollout of Apple Intelligence that allowed it to better understand context and follow-up queries, but it doesn't have the brain power or conversational capabilities of ChatGPT.

Apple is racing toward the development of a conversational version of Siri referred to as LLM Siri, to catch up with ChatGPT by OpenAI. The new LLM Siri will use more advanced AI language models, also known as LLMs.
